SA Olympiads runs academic competitions for learners from Grade 1 to 12. Three of these feed into SAIO’s international programme.
SAIO Competitions
Our Three International Subjects
Learners enter through their school’s registered SA Olympiads coordinator. Eligibility for SAIO international events is earned through the National Round.
Grades 1 – 12
Mathematics
Develops problem-solving, logical reasoning and quantitative thinking. The cornerstone of SAIO’s flagship international event.

Grades 1 – 12
English
Develops reading comprehension, vocabulary, language structure and creative expression. One of the most widely entered Olympiads in South Africa.

Grades 1 – 12
Natural Science
Develops scientific curiosity and understanding of the physical, life and earth sciences. Observation, enquiry and discovery.
